A specification for a specific hardware platform combined with the operating system. 

It is one step beyond the application program interface (API), which defines the calls from the application to the operating system.

An application binary interface (ABI) is basically describes the low-level interface between an application or any type of program and the operating system . Its defining requirements for portability of applications in binary forms across different system platforms and environments.
