Continue is also a keyword which is used to skip all the remaning statement of a loop and jump to next round. Continue statement is used when we want to skip the rest of the statement in the body of the loop and continue with the next iteration of the loop.
Example :
for (int i=1 ; i<=5 ; i++) { if(i==3) continue ; Sytem.out.print(i); }
output :
1 2 4 5
The labeled continue statement skips the remaining statements in that statement’s body and any number of enclosing repetition statements and proceeds with the next iteration of the enclosing labeled repetition statement (i.e., a for, while or do...while preceded by a label).
Example :
class LabeledContinue { public static void main(String args[]) { outer : for(int i=1;i<=5;i++) { System.out.println(); inner : for(int j=1;j<=5;j++) { if(i==j) continue outer; System.out.print(j); } } } }
output :
1 1 2 1 2 3 1 2 3 4
